The CourtX Art Trail

We are pleased to announce the commencement of the initial art trail landscaping taking place in the peripheral area surrounding the grass courts. To begin, there will be some work on the southern and eastern sides of our site. The grass tennis courts themselves will continue to be available to play on.

Our priority remains to offer the best tennis facilities possible, as we develop to bring to our community more experiences and things to do. As ever, we value your continued support and look forward to sharing this exciting development with you.

CourtX Art Trail

Introduction

CourtX, formerly Canoe Lake Leisure, has had a positive impact on the community since the development of the Pavilion and tennis court upgrades. CourtX continues to be committed to creating an engaged community, and hopes to do this by expanding its offerings. To maximise the use of the sites available space, CourtX hopes to utilise the marginal grounds around the tennis courts to create an inviting area for leisure and cultural activities in the form of an Art Trail. Tennis is the primary activity at CourtX and will continue to be so.

The introduction of an Art Trail will be a complimentary activity that offers an additional interest at CourtX for its visitors and also invites a wider demographic. Philanthropy is at the heart of this burgeoning art programme with an aim to make CourtX a hub of cultural activity amongst the Southsea community, Portsmouth and beyond.

Art Trail

The Art Trail will be open to the public via access through the Pavilion. The Art Trail has been designed to ensure the two activities, Art & Tennis, will not interrupt one another. The site will be able to accommodate both activities with a dynamic approach.

The main feature of the outdoor Art Trail will be a series of outdoor sculptures.

The landscaping around the grass tennis courts has been designed so there is access to the courts without compromise. The design maximises the use of the marginal space by creating a soft boundary around the courts so the two activities can coexist without distraction or interference.

The Art Trail will provide beautifully planted break out areas for visitors to sit and relax in.

The landscaping provides an opportunity to display art sculpture but also an inviting natural environment to sit out in and enjoy the fresh air.

Summary

The CourtX facilities are open to all and we hope by expanding our activity offering we can welcome more visitors of the Southsea community.

Activating the grounds on the perimeter of the site provides a welcoming and structured space for additional outdoor activities.

We can do for art what we have done for tennis... first class facilities with highly accessible and affordable opportunities for everyone to enjoy.
