ROTATE at CourtX

Key Davies, Spectators, 2022

ROTATE is the latest initiative of the COURTX Art Programme. Artwork is exhibited across the first floor of the pavilion and rotated throughout the year. The ROTATE programme invites artists to exhibit their existing artwork showcasing a variety of styles, providing members, of the CourtX community, with an informal and relaxed opportunity to view art whilst enjoying the facilities.

We are excited to launch our first iteration of the CourtX ROTATE programme whereby we invite Artist’s to exhibit existing work for 8 weeks at a time.

For July - September we welcome Key Davies and Joshua Benmore to exhibit at CourtX.

Key Davies, Stretch, 2022

Key Davies

Key is a contemporary artist inspired by tennis, travel and beautiful interiors. She works out of her studio in SW London and the surrounding areas often serve as another influence in her artworks.

The “Off Court” series came to life in time for the British Summer tennis season, 2022. The first piece, “Spectators”, began back in Spring 2020 and was completed earlier this year. The rest of the series continues to explore this theme, each featuring tennis elements, such as courts and fluorescent balls. Key’s work has been described as fresh, optimistic and vibrant. Keep an eye out for season 2 next year.

Joshua Benmore

ROMANTIC ESCAPISM fine art paintings channeling nostalgia and belonging. Joshua’s work stems from exploration of life’s natural happiness and challenges. This was painted in tennis season, It was inspired by memories that hold nostalgic feelings of youth and summer evenings. They feel like a comforting dream or experience even if you haven’t lived it. The bottom front sides of the painting read "The day of playing in the sun and rain and stars. Summer green and the airs starting to get cold.
