Summer Exhibition: Jessie Woodward

This summer, the Rotate project is delighted to showcase the work of Bristol-based abstract artist Jessie Woodward, whose vibrant large scale paintings bring an explosion of colour and energy to the space.

With a background in Fine Art and Art History, and years of experience working in art education, Jessie has spent the last eight years developing her full time artistic practice, exhibiting across the UK and internationally. Her work is held in collections around the world and is recognised for its bold use of colour, dynamic mark-making and richly layered textures.

Working intuitively, Jessie explores the expressive language of paint itself. Her paintings are driven by the relationships between colour, texture, scale and gesture, creating compositions that radiate visual energy, joy and movement. Through pure abstraction, she invites viewers to engage emotionally with the work and experience the power of colour and form beyond words.

A distinctive aspect of Jessie’s practice is her decision to title works using only numerical references. By removing descriptive titles, she encourages viewers to approach each painting without preconceived ideas, allowing a direct and personal connection with the artwork.

The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience Jessie’s striking large scale paintings in person, where their vibrant surfaces and immersive presence can be fully appreciated.

Join us at the Pavilion this summer and discover a body of work that celebrates colour, spontaneity and the uplifting possibilities of abstract painting.
